CPBL 6-A-Side Tournament

In the CPBL 6-A-Side Tournament over the weekend, Wagierale won by default over Pomona United, who went to play in the 1st Division tournament in Griga. In the other game, Real Juventud won, 6-4, over Burial Ground Warriors.

Reports are that the playoff games for this weekend will be postponed until next week in support of the celebration festivities and other activities by the Village Council.

Wamule U-23 Playoffs & Finals results

The Wamule U-23 “King of the Court” Champion of Champion was held on Sunday at the Ecumenical basketball auditorium, where Foreshore was crowned the over-all Champion of Champion by defeating Ghans.

In Round 1 games, New Site Stinnaz edged Back-a-town Bulldogs, 18-17; and Harlem Shockers put down Benguche Flames, 22-16.

In Round 2, it was Foreshore Pelicans, 30-27, over New Site Stinnaz; and Ghans Stars, 29-22, over Harlem Shockers.

The 3rd Place game saw Harlem Shockers crushing New Site Stinnaz, 29-19; and in the Finals, Foreshore Pelicans defeated Ghans Stars, 47-40, to become “King of the Court” Champion of Champions. Top performers for Pelicans were Edgar Mitchell 21 pts 3 rebs 3 assts 3 stls, Brandon Flowers 11 pts 8 rebs, and Oswald Mena 8 pts 15 rebs; while Ghans was led by Trevaughn Usher 10 pts 5 rebs, Dayton Valencio 11 pts 3 rebs, and Daniel Nolberto 8 pts 3 rebs.

Final results for the tournament were: 1st Place – Foreshore Pelicans; 2nd Ghans Stars; 3rd Harlem Shockers; and 4th New Site Stinnaz.

SCFA 1st Division Football Tournament

The Stann Creek Football Association (SCFA) kicked off its First Division Tournament 2013 on Sunday, September 15, with 2 games played at the Carl Ramos Stadium. In game 1, Pomona United bombed Pomona Master Link FC, 10-1, with 3 goals from Otis Smith (4’, 40’ & 84’), 2 from Joseph Brooks (24’ & 28’), and 1 apiece from Floyd Tillett, Jr. (34’), Mario Moralez, Jr. (51’), Shane Gentle (59’), Terrence Young (66’) and Byron Perez (88’). Pomona Master Link’s only goal was by Kevin Moralez (11’ PK). In game 2, Home Creek Pumas FC clipped DYFA FC, 3-2, with goals from Arthur Roberts (6’), Dwayne Salquero (44’) and Victor Trujillo (74’). DYFA goals were by Adrian Usher (2’) and Kenton Flores (23’).

8:30 p.m. – Hopkins vs Silk Grass

Sunday, September 22
3:30 p.m. – Red Bank Napoli vs New Site

PLB pre-season Friendlies

In the PLB pre-season Friendly on Friday night at the Carl Ramos Stadium, BDF won over Green Gold by 5 goals to 2. Matthew Valdez scored 2, and Harrison Tasher, Shane Flores and John King all got one apiece for BDF; while Green Gold got both goals from Hector Gomez.

The final BDF pre-season Friendly will be this Thursday night in Benque Viejo, where they will take on Verdes at 7:30 p.m.

After that, the BDF team will be in Dangriga next week for the entire week to continue training at the Carl Ramos Stadium, which is their home turf for the up-coming PLB season.

Dominoes Marathon

This Saturday, September 21, it’s the big Dominoes Marathon at Ninja’s Bar, located on the north side of Dangriga on Pen Road. Teams from all over the country are invited to take part in this Marathon. Registration per team is only $25.00. Marathon time is set to start at 10:00 a.m.
First prize is $300.00; second place $200.00; third place $100.00.
