Mayor’s Cup Week 8 results

The Dangriga Mayor’s Cup 2017 Football Tournament continued this past weekend at the Carl Ramos Stadium with Week 8 games on Friday night, May 5, and Sunday afternoon, May 7.

In the opener on Friday night, YG United and New Site Tire Depot ended up in a 1-1 tie. Ryan Saravia scored for New Site, while Terence Murillo tallied for YG United. In game 2, the much anticipated Mayor’s Cup Classico was won by Department of Youth Services (DYS) over Belize Coast Guard, 3 goals to 1. Leonard Valdez, Kyle Valerio and Freddy Flores got 1 apiece for DYS, while Coast Guard’s only goal came from Eredito Valencia.

In game 1 of Sunday’s triple header, Benguche DYFA won over Foreshore Empire, 4 goals to 3. Davis Marshall, Jr. got a hat trick (3) and Tito Flores scored the other goal for DYFA; while for Foreshore, it was Carlos Lino with a hat trick. Game 2 saw Pomona Warriors crushing Silk Grass Warriors, 8 goals to nil. Floyd Tillett had a hat trick (3), Kenroy Arthurs and Tyler Peters got 2 goals apiece, and Alexander “Pleck” Peters scored the final goal. And in game 3, it was Conquerors over Hopkins, 3 goals to 1, with Harrison Tasher, Jacinto Bermudez and Adgar Adderly netting 1 apiece for Conquerors, while Edwin “Nazzy” Nasario got the only goal for Hopkins.

Mayor’s Cup Week 9 schedule

Dangriga Mayor’s Cup Football Tournament continues this Mother’s Day weekend with Week 9 games inside the Carl Ramos Stadium.

Friday, May 12
6:30 p.m. – Hope Creek United vs Dept. of Youth Services
8:30 p.m. – Silk Grass Warriors vs Foreshore Empire

Sunday, May 14, Mother’s Day
1:30 p.m. – Silk Grass Youth Grass vs A&N Strikers
3:30 p.m. – Conquerors vs Sampson’s
5:30 p.m. – Belize Coast Guard vs Wagiya

SCFA Smart Mundialito Championship

The Stann Creek Football Association (SCFA) Smart Mundialito had semifinal games on Saturday, May 6, at the Carl Ramos Stadium. In game 1, Wagierale Young Bombers dropped Benguche DYFA, 2-0, with goals from Jaheed Gomez and Myrick Caliz. And in game 2, it was Silk Grass, 1-0, over New Site Tire Depot, on a goal by Ian Pixabaj.

This coming Saturday will be the SCFA Smart Mundialito Championship Finals, as the two losers will play for third place, after which the two winners will be playing for first and second place in the tournament.
