Dangriga sports stats – Philip Marin to Europe – Germany

Mr. T. Birthday Cycling Classic

Here are the results from the 5th Annual Mr. T. Birthday Classic that took place on Sunday, February 23, and started (and finished) in front of Wadani Shed and headed on to the Southern Highway to Sittee River junction and back. First place went to Sherman Thomas from Roaring Creek; 2nd was Rizden Flowers from Mullins River; 3rd Ashton Mobutu from Dangriga; and 4th Charles Bruce from Mullins River.

The Dangriga Amateur Cycling Association would like to thank all those who assisted in any way to make the Mr. T. Cyling Classic a success.

Philip Marin to Europe – Germany

Belizean sportsman/educator, Philip Marin will be attending a five-(5) month International Coaching Course for football in Germany.

Philip’s coaching experience includes: Assistant Coach and Physical Trainer for Conquerors Football Club (Semi-Pro), 2006-2007; Assistant Coach and Physical Trainer for Ilagulei F.C. (Semi-Pro), 2007-2008; Assistant Coach and Physical Trainer for Georgetown Ibayani F.C. (Semi-Pro), 2008-2010; Assistant Physical Trainer for the Belize National Football Team, 2008-2011; Coach Stann Creek Ecumenical College Male Football Team at the CODICADER Games in San Salvador, Salvador, 2012; and presently coaching the Stann Creek Ecumenical College Male Football Team, 2012-.

Among his extra-curricular sporting involvement, Philip is presently facilitating the Football Federation of Belize (FFB) Coaching License Courses, since 2009; he is President for the Southern Secondary Schools Sports Association (SSSSA), since 2013; Assistant Treasurer for the National Secondary Schools Sports Association (NSSSA), since 2010; Technical Director of the Stann Creek District F.A., since 2013; an executive member of the Belize Athletics Association, since 2013; and a member of the FFB Technical Development Committee, since 2013.

Philip leaves Belize on Friday, February 28, for Germany, where the Course starts on March 3 and finishes on July 31, 2014. The course will be both theory and practical, and will focus on eight (8) areas – Football (specialization); General Science of Training and Movements; Sports Medicine; Sports Massage; Sports Psychology; Sports Pedagogy; Strength Training; Introduction to German Language.

Primary school football

The Stann Creek Sports Council continued its primary school zone softball ball tournaments on Tuesday, February 25, at St. Matthews, which was Valley Zone.

Representing the Valley Zone will be Light of the Valley Baptist males and St. Matthews females; representing the Independence Zone is Independence Primary males and females; Hopkins Zone will be Silk Grass Methodist males and Georgetown Richard Quinn females.

On Thursday, February 27, it will be Dangriga Zone at the Carl Ramos Stadium, commencing at 9:00 a.m. And coming up on March 5 will be the Regional Tournament, also at Carl Ramos Stadium, commencing also at 9:00 a.m.
