Mayor’s Cup Committtee says Thanks

The executive committee of the Classic Gold Mayor’s Cup 2013 would like to take this opportunity to express our gratitude and appreciation to all those who supported this year’s tournament to be a great success. Our Platinum Sponsor – Traveller’s Rum, Mayor H. Gilbert Swaso and the Dangriga Town Council, Hon. Ivan Ramos, Football Federation of Belize, Stann Creek Sports Council, Stann Creek Football Association, the Police Department, Uncle Harry Paint, Mr. Nolbert Moss – Competition Committee Secretary, Hamaalali Radio Station, Dangriga Cable Vision, Rapidito Loans, Mr. Orin Orio, Mr. David “Davo” Rodriguez, Mr. Santiago Acosta, team managers & players, and, of course, the fans who came out to support their teams and the tournament.

Boys & Girls U-15 football

These are Week 6 results from U-15 games played on Sunday, June 2, at the Carl Ramos Stadium in the Dangriga Boys and Girls U-15 Tournament, sponsored by D.N.K. Internet Café. In the first game on Sunday, Wagierale bombed Benguche, 5-1, with 2 goals from Latrelle Middleton and 1 apiece from Santos Vargas, Gareth Bowen and Jebron Wagner; while Janard Castillo got the goal for Benguche. Game 2 was another shelling, as DYFA shut out Montise, 7-nil; Myrick Marshall had a hat trict (3 goals), with 1 each coming from Dennis Sutherland, Donell Arzu, Guy Sutherland and Dante Gillett. Game 3 was a tight one, and it was Wagiya, 1-0, over Umadagu, with Warren Moss netting the game winner for Wagiya. The game between Silk Grass and Foreshore was not played because Silk Grass called in time to say they were having problems with transportation.

The standings after Week 6 are: Wagiya – 18 points; DYFA – 15 pts; Wagierale – 12 pts; Umadagu – 7 pts; Silk Grass – 7 pts; Benguche – 6 pts; Foreshore – 3 pts; and Montise – 0 pts.

This Sunday, Week 7, is the final Sunday of the regular season.

Game 1 – Benguche vs Umadagu
Game 2 – Wagiya vs Foreshore
Game 3 – DYFA vs Wagierale
Game 4 – Montise vs Silk Grass

Interoffice Basketball Finals on Friday

In the Dangriga Town Council Interoffice Basketball semifinals last night, Wednesday, at the Why-Not Island, game one saw Police gaining the 50-39 win over Belize Bank, and in game 2 it was Digicell-4G over Teachers, 33-31.

The big championship Final is set for this Friday, June 7, once again at the Why-Not Island. The first game at 6:30 p.m. will be the third place match-up – Teachers vs Belize Bank; that will be followed by the big championship match-up – Digicell-4G vs Police.
