FFB Inter-District Week 6 results

The FFB (Open) Inter-District Football Tournament continued with Week 6 games over the past weekend in the four zones of the competition.

Zone 1

On Sunday, January 5, at the Michael Ashcroft Stadium, Police FC clipped MnM Steelers, 2-1, with 2 goals from Cyril Martinez (52’ & 89’); while Edwardo Martinez (68’) got the only goal for the Steelers. Meanwhile, at the Toledo Union Field, it was GB United, 4-3, over Mavericks, with Pedro Tejada (22’ & 31’) and Dagaberto Garcia (88’ & 89’) sharing the scoring for GB United, while Andre Logan (46’, 50’ & 87) scored all 3 goals for Mavericks.

Zone 2

Both Zone 2 games were also on Sunday. At the Isidoro Beaton Stadium, Roaring Creek United dropped Hope Creek Pumas, 2-1, with a goal apiece from Orin Reneau (50’) and Scott Casey (79’); Hope Creek’s goal was by Octavio Ramirez (70’). And at the Carl Ramos Stadium, San Martin FC won by default (3-0) over Green Gold FC.

Zone 3

On Saturday night, January 4, at the Norman Broaster Stadium, Smart Brown Bombers played to a 2-2 draw with Georgeville Strikers. Dalton Cayetano (3’ & 72’) struck twice for the Bombers; while Brandon Wiltshire (15’) and Alfonso Diaz (52’) tallied for the Strikers. And on Sunday night at the MCC Grounds, Ebony Lake and Penarol also drew, 2-2. Carlos Lino (22’) and Nigel Burgess (44’ PK) shook the net for Ebony Lake; while Wilber Reyes De La Roas (41’) and Abdiel Urizar (66’ PK) replied for Penarol.

Zone 4

Both games in Zone 4 were played on Sunday, January 5. At the Louisiana Field, it was Progresso FC, 3-0, over Ranchito Warriors, courtesy of goals from Hector Carlos (20’) and Gabriel Perez (31’ & 78’). Meanwhile, at the Ricalde Stadium, San Estevan FC came away with the 2-1 victory over Athletico Club Los Lobos. Edwani Munoz (55’) and Irvin Osorio (74’) scored for San Estevan; while Elionai Vargas (57’) got the lone goal for Club Los Lobos.

The Inter-District Quarterfinals knock-out (2 games) series begins this weekend, following a back match to be played tonight, Thursday, between Zone 2’s San Martin FC and Hope Creek Pumas, as follows:

Thurs. Jan. 9, back match

8:00 p.m. – San Martin FC vs Hope Creek Pumas – Isidoro Beaton Stadium

In Game 1 of the quarterfinals, MnM Steelers (#1 seed Zone 1) will travel to the #2 seed of Zone 2, which will be determined according to the outcome of tonight’s back match.

The other quarterfinal matches are:

Saturday, January 11

3:30 p.m. – (Zone 1 #2) Mavericks vs either Roaring Creek United or the winner of tonight’s back match between San Martin FC and Hope Creek Pumas.

Sunday, January 12

3:00 p.m. – Penarol FC vs Progresso FC – Norman Broaster Stadium
3:30 p.m. – San Estevan FC vs Ebony Lake FC – Louisiana Field
