Homosexual rape at King?s Park party

GeneralHomosexual rape at King?s Park party

The accused, Carlos Figueroa, 24, appeared in the Belize Magistrate?s Court #1 on Tuesday, April 18, before Chief Magistrate Herbert Lord, where he was read his charge of committing an unnatural act.

Figueroa told the court that he was intoxicated, and that was why he raped the man.

Chief Magistrate Lord did not offer Figueroa bail, and he was remanded to the Hattieville Prison. He is expected to reappear in court on Thursday, May 19.

Police said that on Sunday, a 27-year-old, whose name was not released, said that he was at a friend?s home in the King?s Park area where they were having get-together.

The 27-year-old told police that Figueroa placed a knife to his chest and ordered him into the bathroom. When he got inside, Figueroa closed the door and raped him, he further alleged.

A medical officer confirmed that the complainant had been anally penetrated and classified the injury as harm.

The last reported sodomy attack was on Valentine?s Day, February 14. On that day, Albert Hendy, 32, reportedly went into a business establishment at Mile 2 on the Western Highway and asked for a glass of water. While an 18-year-old, alone in the shop, was getting the water, the man allegedly grabbed him from behind, ordered him to take off his pants, and tried to rape him. But the youth defended himself with a machete that he grabbed from inside the business. His boss, who had gone out, returned just in time to help the teen fend off his attacker.
