Kickoff times adjusted for opening and final rounds of Central American Cup Tigo 2014 USA

SportsKickoff times adjusted for opening and final rounds of Central American Cup Tigo 2014 USA

GUATEMALA CITY—The Central American Football Union (UNCAF) today announced that the match schedule for the Central American Cup Tigo 2014 USA, originally announced last month, has been amended. The dates, September 3-13, remain as previously announced, while kickoff times have been moved back on both the opening and closing days.

Opening round matches of the Central American Cup Tigo 2014 have been moved 30 minutes later in the day. Start times for each of the three matches on the final day of competition have also been shifted back, in this case by two hours. The Final is now set to start at 9 PM Pacific Time. The full schedule can be found below and at CONCACAF.com.

The Central American Cup, which will be played on U.S. soil for the first time in its 13 editions, will provide berths to the 2015 CONCACAF Gold Cup and the 2016 Centennial Cup America. Tickets to all matches are on sale now, and available at stadium box offices and online through http://www.concacaf.com/tickets.

The two-group, seven-team tournament begins on Sept. 3 at RFK Stadium in Washington D.C. with a tripleheader featuring 2014 FIFA World Cup quarterfinalist Costa Rica taking on Nicaragua, Honduras facing Belize, and El Salvador against Guatemala.

The Central American Cup Tigo 2014 USA then moves on to Dallas’ Cotton Bowl on September 7 and Houston’s BBVA Compass Stadium on September 10. The championship game, as well as the third- and fifth-place matches, will be played on Saturday, September 13, at the historic Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum.

The champion of the Central American Cup Tigo 2014 will earn a direct ticket to the Centennial Cup America 2016, also to be played in the United States. The Central American Cup Tigo will also decide the four automatic UNCAF berths for the 2015 CONCACAF Gold Cup. The fifth-place finisher will earn the right to participate in a two-leg playoff against the fifth-place team from the 2014 Caribbean Football Union Caribbean Cup, for an additional Gold Cup berth.

The event’s Organizing Committee is headed by CONCACAF and Soccer United Marketing. Sponsorship rights are being managed jointly by Imagina USA and Traffic USA.
