BELIZE CITY, Mon. Aug. 1, 2016–Good day, ladies and gentlemen! My name is Allan McCoy and, as vice president of the Belize District Billiards Association, I would like to update the general public on the National Belikin 8-Ball Tournament that is taking place at the district level in the Belize District.

Our regular season concluded on Wednesday, July 27, with four teams making it to the semifinal round. Those teams are (1) Long Island, finishing with 122 pts; (2) Lakers Cool Spot, 104 pts; (3) Micheladas, 100 pts; and (4) Team Police, playing out of Lion King, finishing with 92 pts.

The semifinals, which start today, Monday, August 1, will be a home and away match, with no. 1 seeded Long Island playing host to the no. 4 seeded Team Police. Tomorrow’s match-up will be the no. 2 seeded Lakers playing host to the no. 3 seeded Team Micheladas.

The away matches will be on Wednesday and Thursday of this week, which will then have Team Long Island going to Lion King, and Team Lakers going to Micheladas to play the away match.

All matches are slated to start at 7:00 p.m. The two winners of this round will move on to play for the district finals, which will be held on 7th and 14th of this month.

The winner of the district will then move on to represent the Belize District in the National Belikin 8-Ball Tournament, to be held on the 20th and 21st of this month in Orange Walk.

I will be updating you all on the scores and teams making it to the finals, as well as the time that these matches will commence.
