National Women’s Softball Championship this weekend

BELIZE CITY, Mon. Aug. 24, 2015–The Belize Softball Federation will be holding its XXV National Women’s Softball Championship over this weekend, from Friday to Sunday, August 28-30, at Rogers Stadium in Belize City.

The action starts on Friday and according to a release from the Federation, the first game gets under way “at 6:30 p.m. sharp.” On Saturday, the games will start at 9:00 a.m., and Sunday games begin at 10:00 a.m.

Official opening ceremonies for the Championship are scheduled for Saturday, August 29, beginning at 1:00 p.m. after the second game.

Six teams will be vying for this year’s National Championship, two each from three different softball zones, namely: BTL and Belize Bank Bulldogs (Belize City), Unitedville’s Rebels United and Roaring Creek Grace Kennedy (Cayo), and Double Head Cabbage and UB Black Jaguars (Belize Rural).

Defending champion is Belize Bank Bulldogs, who defeated Roaring Creek Grace Kennedy in the finals last year.
