PHILIP GOLDSON HIGHWAY, Mile 15, Belize District, Thurs. Sept. 7, 2017–Joaquin Viamill, 38, a businessman of Carmelita, Orange Walk District, lost his life at about 7:30 last night in a traffic accident on the Philip Goldson Highway. Viamill and his wife, Julissa, 37, were traveling in their SUV from Orange Walk to Belize City when on arriving near Mile 15, Viamill, who was driving, lost control of the vehicle, which overturned several times and landed on top of Viamill, who was thrown out when it flipped.

People who saw the accident moved the SUV off Viamill.

Viamill suffered massive head and body injuries and reportedly died immediately.

Julissa Viamill suffered injuries to her head, body, and leg; she was rushed to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital, where she was admitted in a serious condition.

Police said that on their arrival at the scene, they saw the Isuzu Trooper on the right side of the road, and an unconscious Joaquin Viamill lying on the road beside it. Paramedics who arrived in an ambulance declared him dead, after which his body was taken to the morgue.
