Rural Female Softball Tournament in full swing

BELIZE CITY, Tue. May 24, 2016–The Belize Rural Female Softball Tournament 2016 is in full swing, with 4 games being played each Sunday, 2 games each at two different venues. The 8 participating teams are separated into two divisions, Division A and Division B. Division A, teams are Lords Bank Sunrise (Lords Bank), UB Jaguars (Belmopan), Exotic Girls (Hattieville) and Orchid Girls (Burrell Boom); and Division B teams are Double Head Cabbage (Double Head), Easy Does It (Flowers Bank), Beverly Hill Flams (Lords Bank) and Arrows (Bermudian Landing).

In game 1 on Sunday, May 22, at Double Head Cabbage, Orchid Girls won, 14-3, over Exotic Girls, behind winning pitcher, Therese Baptist; while Iceany Baptist got the loss. And in game 2, it was UB Jaguars, 11-4, over Lords Bank Sunrise. Karlene Williams was the winning pitcher for UB, while Karen Hilton suffered the loss.

Meanwhile, the opener at Bermudian Landing saw Easy Does It getting the 14-7 win over Beverly Hill Flames, with Margaret Hendy the winning pitcher and Nikita Anderson the loser. And in the nightcap, it was Double Head Cabbage defeating Arrows, 7-0, behind winning pitcher Herlet Clarke, while the loss was charged to Shauna Avilez.

The fifth week of competition comes up this Sunday with 2 games each at Lords Bank and Flowers Bank villages. The opener at Lords Bank features undefeated UB Black Jaguars versus winless Exotic Girls.

1:00 p.m. – Exotic Girls vs UB Black Jaguars
3:00 p.m. – Orchid Girls vs Lords Bank Sunrise

Division B – at Flowers Bank
1:00 p.m. – Arrows vs Beverly Hill Flames
3:00 p.m. – Double Head Cabbage vs Easy Does It.
