SportsSCA vs Belize High School females for CSSSA Volleyball Championship

The Central Secondary Schools Sports Association (CSSSA) Volleyball Competition 2013, which began back on Wednesday, October 2, with 5 female teams and 5 male teams participating, will hold its championship finals this week at Bird’s Isle.

Participating female teams were from St. Catherine Academy (SCA), Nazarene High School (NHS), Ladyville Technical High School (LTH), Wesley College High School (WES), and Belize High School (BHS); while the males were St. John’s College (SJC), Anglican Cathedral College (ACC), Ladyville Technical High School (LTH), Wesley College High School (WES), and Belize High School (BHS).

One female and one male game was played daily at Bird’s Isle from Monday to Saturday of each week, and after completion of a double round-robin regular season, they are now down to the best-of-3 games championship finals series featuring the top two female and male teams from the regular season standings.

Both SCA (females) and SJC (males) finished the regular season undefeated. For the females, SCA, with an (8-0) record, will face their closest rival, BHS (6-2) in the Finals; next in the female standings were NHS and LTH with similar records of (3-5), and WES finishing winless at (0-8). For the male Finals, SJC (7-0) clashes with LTH (5-2). SJC and LTH had an unfinished game due to rain this past Friday, with SJC having taken the first set, 25-20. The outcome would not affect the Finals, which will commence as originally scheduled. The rest of the male standings were BHS (4-4), ACC (3-5) and WES (0-8).
