Smart 13 & Under Mundialito Week 2 results

Sponsor needed for U10 and U12

The MCC Grounds has been very busy on Saturdays lately, as the Smart 13 & Under Mundialito football tournament has completed its second week of games, with all 10 teams seeing action each week.

In games this past Saturday, October 6, Ladyville Japan and Jane Usher Blvd. drew 0-0; Ladyville Jaguars also drew 0-0 with United Rangers; Brown Bombers defeated Hattieville, 2-0, with both goals by Sherwin Requena; City Boys Junior drew 0-0 with Young Stars; and St. John Vianney drew 0-0 with Third World.

Goals have been scarce, and perhaps the organizers will consider expanding the 10-foot wide goalposts they have been using. Nevertheless, the games are exciting, and most of all, the kids are having fun.

Some observers have also commented on the size disparity among some players. 13 & Under means players cannot turn 14 before December 31 of this year. But, with no restrictions on the lower age bracket, there are some 9-year-olds on a few teams. One year makes a big difference at this age. We now need a sponsor for a separate U-10 or U-12 tournament.
