SportsSmart Mundialito Week 9 results; 2 weeks to end of reg. season

BELIZE CITY, Mon. June 13, 2016–The Smart 13 & Under Mundialito completed its Week 9 games on Saturday at the MCC, and there are only 2 more weeks of regular season games remaining, before the top 4 teams go on to the knockout semifinals. There will be one significant change to this year’s Finals, though. Traditionally, it has been a one-game championship final; but this year, the championship will be decided in a 2-game series, FIFA style.

In game 1 on Saturday, June 11, Brown Bombers and City Boys played to a 1-1 draw. Ken Galvez shook the net for City Boys, while Keifer Perteau hit the target for Brown Bombers.

Game 2 saw Ladyville Rising Stars playing to a nil-nil stalemate with Reality Youths.

Game 3 was an upset of sorts, as Carlston FC clipped Young Warriors, 1-0, on a goal by Maximilliano Jones.

It was another nil-nil affair in game 4, this one between Ladyville Jaguars and Hattieville Riverside Boys

And in game 5, Collet Strikers bombed Face of Belize, 5-1, with Shemar Gillett netting 3 goals for Strikers, with Jahren Rivers and Jevon Theus adding 1 apiece; while Kassem Santos got the only goal for Face of Belize.

The race to the top-4 playoffs is tight in the last 2 weeks of regular season. (See standings below)
