Suggests compassion for Guat youth

LettersSuggests compassion for Guat youth

Dear Editor,

I hope somebody in authority sees the grave injustice being done to the three Guatemalan youths being fined $1,000.00 Bzd or 6 months imprisonment. If these kids each had $1,000.00 Bzd they would not be looking for jobs as they say. Six months in prison can mean nothing to some and traumatize others for life. My advice would be to hand the kids back to the Guatemalan authorities with a warning that if they return they will spend the time.

Let us please stop shooting ourselves in the foot by filling our prison with illegal immigrants.

Just as our people go to the United States to seek a better life, these people come here with the same intention. May our authorities show compassion.

Regards,
Romel Cuello
