Woman found decomposing in house in Dangriga

GeneralWoman found decomposing in house in Dangriga

Geraldine Lewis, a resident of Dangriga, was found dead and in an advanced stage of decomposition in her house on Sunday. A forced entry in the house was made, because she had bolted the doors from inside. The body was taken to the Dangriga Town cemetery, where it was buried immediately.

Information to Amandala is that Lewis, who had recently returned home after living and working in the United States for decades, had not been seen or heard from for about a week. She normally would be heard singing from her house, and every Sunday she would go to church.

On Thursday, an odor began to disturb people, but it was not distinct. On Sunday, however, the neighbors became alarmed because the smell had begun aggravating them. Houseflies were seen outside Lewis’ window, and buzzards were seen in the area.

Neighbors finally called police, and the rotting corpse was found in the bedroom. Neighbors said that Lewis was very private, and did not socialize often. Police do not suspect foul play.
