Marcos Frazer, 24, fatally stabbed; Eugene Wallace, 40, ambushed on Fabers Road Extension

BELIZE CITY, Thurs. Apr. 4, 2019– Two men who became involved in an altercation with a man they knew, on Fabers Road Extension at about 9:00 yesterday morning, beat the man with a bottle and a concrete block, but the man retaliated by taking out a switchblade with which he stabbed the two men who attacked him. He then rode away on his motorcycle.

Marcos Frazer, 24, of Fabers Road Extension was stabbed in the chest and died shortly after at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital. His friend, Kyle Saunders, was stabbed in the body and is currently admitted to the KHMH in a serious but stable condition.

Assistant Superintendent of Police, Alejandro Cowo, said that at about 9:00 yesterday morning, Saunders and Frazer were sitting on a fence by a Chinese-owned store on Fabers Road when a man they knew drove up on his motorcycle, got off the bike and went into the store to make some purchases.

The two friends then went into the store and attacked the man.

Cowo said that there is ongoing hostility between two groups of young men in the area, and while the motorcyclist cannot be found, police believe that the attack on him was due to the ongoing feud among them, and that he was acting in self-defense when he stabbed the men.

Saunders remains in a serious but stable condition, Cowo said, and an investigation into the incident has begun, after which a file will be compiled and sent to the Director of Public Prosecution for her directives.

The veteran investigator said that the Fabers Road Sub-Police Station has been reopened and is being occupied by the Gang Suppression Unit (GSU).

Then Eugene Wallace, 40, a laborer of Fabers Road Extension, and his friend Zachary Knox, 22, also of Fabers Road, were relaxing and drinking at a mechanic shop on Fabers Road, at about 8:00 last evening when a motorcycle with two men stopped in front of the shop and one man jumped off the bike and fired shots at them. Wallace was struck in his head and body and Knox was also wounded in his body. Wallace died almost immediately, while Knox was taken to the hospital in a serious condition.

ASP Alejandro Cowo said that an investigation into the shooting has begun and that police believe that the shooting was the result of ongoing rivalry between two groups in the Fabers Road Extension area.  The rivalry reportedly stems from a drug transaction that went bad, which has resulted in over a week of hostility between the two groups.

Police are looking for two men who can help the investigation.

The Gang Suppression Unit (GSU) been deployed to the area to address any retaliation that may be attempted, and patrols have been increased.
