BELIZE CITY, Mon. Jan. 8, 2024

A couple Tuesday’s ago, which would be December 26 of 2023, according to reports we gather from a few reliable sources, but nothing yet official in black and white, a “first-eleven” player on the 1976-77 Charger football team, Kenrick “Dusty” Panton passed away from a sudden illness. He was not known to be ailing, but our sources indicate that it was likely a case of severe food poisoning. No member of Dusty’s family has contacted us, and we were only familiar through football with his two brothers who pre-deceased him, namely the elder Manuel “Ching” Panton, and the younger Michael “Chick” Panton.

Our sincere condolences to Dusty’s relatives and many friends of our former teammate. Rest in peace, Brother Kenrick “Dusty” Panton!

The picture above was taken on November 15, 2011, at the Lords Ridge cemetery after the funeral of 1960s football star, Calbert “Pomo” Usher.

Three of the brethren in the above picture are now deceased: on the far left with his back to the camera, Rupert “Canalete” Anderson; in the center standing, Patrick “Beans” Lawrence; and on the far right sitting, Kenrick “Dusty” Panton. R.I.P. brothers!
