The remains are suspected to be those of deliverymen for a Belize City business

SAN JUAN, Stann Creek District, Thurs. Jan. 23, 2020– The charred remains of two persons were found this morning in an area behind Farm 4 in San Juan, in a burnt truck. The two persons were burnt beyond recognition.

During the weekly police press brief held at the Raccoon Street Police Station, Senior Superintendent Hilberto Romero said that at about 6:30 this morning, they were called to the area, where they found a delivery truck that was completely destroyed by fire. Romero said the truck was still smoldering when the officers arrived, and the two charred corpses were found in the front of the truck.

Reliable reports to us this evening are that the delivery truck is for the well-known business Salvador Habet and Company of Belize City. On Monday, the delivery truck driver, Pablo Sosa, and his sideman, both of Belize City, left Belize City for Belmopan and San Juan to make deliveries, and failed to return as scheduled.

Efforts to contact them were in vain.

Today, Salvador Habet, the company’s owner, travelled to San Juan and identified his truck, and the families of the two delivery men, Pablo Sosa and his co-worker, also travelled to San Juan, to see if they could identify the two men, but they could not.

Senior Superintendent Romero said that a post-mortem exam has been scheduled for today.
