DANGRIGA, Stann Creek District, Thurs. Mar. 28, 2019– At about 8:00 tonight, two men who were walking on Riverside Street in Dangriga were shot. One died immediately on the scene, and the other is in a critical condition in the Southern Regional Hospital. Police are on the scene trying to establish the identities of the victims.
The motive for the shooting is not known.
The gun attack on the two men took place just over 24 hours after two gunmen went into a house in the Gungulung area in Lake Independence in Belize City, and shot two men from Dangriga who were sleeping in the house at the time.
Jordan Lorenzo, 22, who was sleeping in the living room of the house, was shot in the head, back and abdomen, and died almost immediately, and a minor, 17, who was also sleeping in the house, was shot in the ankle and back. The two gunmen then escaped.
Police are looking for two men, and they say that the motive for this shooting was a drug deal that went wrong.
