CONSEJO SHORES, Corozal District, Tues. Dec. 29, 2020– Three hundred and seventeen pounds of high-grade marijuana is what Abelardo Orellana, 52, a Salvadoran caretaker of Consejo Shores, Corozal District, was charged for having in his possession. The charge was brought against him on Wednesday, December 23.
The sizable drug bust was made on the afternoon of Tuesday, December 22, by members of the Mobile Interdiction Team (MIT) of the Belize Police Department.
Acting upon intelligence, the officers conducted an operation on a farm in Consejo Shores, where they searched a zinc structure and found five plastic bags and a total of one hundred and twenty-one parcels of cannabis concealed inside a pair of drums.
Orellana was then arrested and charged with possession of controlled drugs with the intent to supply. The Commissioner of Police says that he believes that the drugs originated in Mexico.
