Headline92-year-old woman punched in face during burglary

BELIZE CITY, Mon. Feb. 25, 2019– An elderly woman was injured during a burglary of her home in the Southern Foreshore area of Belize City. The injury was not fatal, and the woman has already been treated and released from the hospital.

According to police, Marie Gardiner, 92, was home around 1:30 p.m. when a man who had gained entry into her home punched her in the face, injuring her mouth.

While police were unable to say how the man was able to enter her home, unconfirmed media reports are that he broke the back door.

Since Gardiner was just released from the hospital today, police have not yet been able to determine if anything was stolen from her home.
