Battle of the undefeateds ? Wagiya vs FC Belize

SportsBattle of the undefeateds ? Wagiya vs FC Belize

This weekend two undefeated teams, Wagiya and FC Belize, will be trying their best to capitalize on each other?s mistakes. Wagiya has a fairly good bench and has proven it in rallying from behind in their two previous games – in Cayo against Verdes and at home with Belmopan United. They will have to rely on the strength of their bench due to the list of starters on the injury list and the recent suspensions of key players. Wagiya?s Guatemalan sweeper Thomas Gamboa, midfielder Gilbert ?Hoof? Suazo and forward Aaron ?Wiley? Locario will be sitting out their third and final game (suspensions) against FC Belize.

As for the injury list, they may have lost striker Dean Flowers for the rest of the season, as he recovers from shoulder surgery. Malakai Nolberto is still nursing a tender right hamstring. Brazilian import, Danilio Marcillio, a midfielder, is out with a strained right ankle that has been diagnosed as partial ligament damage in the ankle. Dennis Alvarez is definitely out for the season with a knee injury. Alex Savery is out with a deep bruise in his right calf.

The veteran David ?Davu? Rodriguez has been able to hold his own in assisting the team in the middle. This will be his biggest test since coming out of retirement this season. Wagiya has an exceptional counter attack.

If FC Belize is to win this game, they will have to pressure and neutralize a Wagiya middle that is somewhat suspect. On the other hand, FC Belize will have to be extremely efficient in ball handling so that they can dictate the pace of the game.

FC Belize also has some key players nursing injuries. Midfielder Clifford ?Calbo? Usher, who has been seeing limited playing time is questionable as to whether or not he will be starting, and left defender Mark Sambula is also listed as day-to-day.

In summary, if FC Belize can control and dominate the Wagiya midfield as they have been doing in previous games, they can come out with the win. Wagiya will want a fast pace, while Marvin Ottley will want his team to slow it down.
