Well, it’s official now, indeed, as BEL Rookies maintained their domination of male softball in the City, destroying upstart Dutch Boy Dantos 16-1 in the nightcap on Monday, June 18, to successfully defend their championship with their third consecutive win in the finals series. Rookies had been sporting a 7-0 lead when we went to press on Monday.
In the first game on Monday night, Lady Rebels became the new Queens of softball in the City, as they disposed of defending champions BTL 6-2, thus also completing a three-game sweep (in a best of five) of their opponents in the finals series which started on Friday. The Rebels’ ace, Lanisha Jones, pitched all three complete games for the new City champions.
Both female and male playoff finals were played on the same nights – Friday, Sunday and Monday last.
