Creoles now a minority

LettersCreoles now a minority

Dear Editor,

The other day on the newscast – I think it was Channel 5 – I saw a quite interesting news article about the ethnic groups of Belize. Surprisingly the Mestizo is nearly, and when I say nearly, I mean very close, to half of our population.

The Creole and the Garifuna are really way down in percentage, and I mean really down.

Those young Belizean black youth killing each other should take a good look at these statistics before they pull the trigger on their brother.

One time the Creoles dominated this country; now we are a minority. The next race creeping up is the Asians.

Belizeans, take note – we are losing what is ours.
