CrimeSan Pedro man remanded for rusty .38 revolver

Charles Peebles, 44, of San Pedro Town, has been remanded to the Belize Central Prison on a charge of keeping an unlicensed firearm.

Peebles, of Swan Street, was taken to the San Pedro Town Magistrate’s Court on Friday, where he was arraigned on the charge and remanded until December 14, when he is to return to court.

Police said that about 11:45 on Thursday night, they were on mobile patrol in the San Pedrito area, where they intervened and broke up a fight between two men, one of whom was identified as Charles Peebles.

Police reported that Charles Peebles had an object in a black plastic bag in his right hand, and they took it away from him.

When police opened the bag in Peebles’ presence, they found a rusty .38 revolver with a taped handle. Peebles was immediately arrested and charged for keeping the firearm.

On Friday he was taken to court, where he was remanded.
