CrimeNightclub altercation leads to gunshots

An early morning shooting which happened near a popular night club in Orange Walk Town yesterday has left one person hospitalized.

Although police have limited information with regards to the incident, it is known that the shooting stemmed from an altercation between two groups of individuals who were partying at the night club at the time.

Officer Commanding the Northern Region, Senior Superintendent Joseph Myvette, told the media today that police are trying to establish a motive for the crime; however, their investigations have been hindered by inadequate cooperation from the shooting victim.

He said, “Early yesterday morning, on Aurora Street near a nightclub, one person received three gunshot injuries, and police have since made efforts to get to the bottom of this crime, but the victim is not cooperating with police in that regard. The information at this time is that there was a fight outside [the club] and thereafter, one person suffered gunshot injuries and was taken to the Northern Regional Hospital.”

The victim has reportedly been hospitalized in a stable condition, while police continue their investigation.
