Tyrone Davis nabbed in Roaring Creek

CrimeTyrone Davis nabbed in Roaring Creek

LADYVILLE—A robber who held up a pastor’s wife and her family at knifepoint at their Crooked Tree home two weeks ago was charged for the horrific aggravated burglary today after he was caught by authorities in Roaring Creek last Friday, August 8.

Tyrone Davis, who reportedly wrenched open the front screen door of the home and attacked Betty Westby, 51, who was at home with her mother, Vilma Wade, 82, and Westby’s 14-year old son, while his accomplice waited outside, was identified by the courageous mother when a hooded sweater that he wore came off during a struggle with Westby in an effort to protect herself and her family members in spite of threats against her life which were being made at the time by the culprit.

He was wanted for the July 30 Crooked Tree home invasion

Since then, a warrant had been issued for Davis’ arrest, and last Friday night, he was apprehended by Belmopan police in the village of Roaring Creek, where it is believed he had been hiding.

According to the family, Davis was familiar with the residence because he had been hired during the 2014 Easter holidays to assist with the expansion of the Westby family’s wooden house.

Mrs. Westby foiled the aggravated burglary by grasping the hand in which Davis – who demanded money – had a knife, until neighbors were eventually alerted by the commotion and the thieves ran off into the night.

Before escaping, Davis allegedly stole a .22 rifle with six rounds of ammunition belonging to Pastor Maurice Westby, who was at a prayer meeting at the Ladyville Baptist Church when the brazen home invasion took place.

While his accomplice remains on the lam, Davis is facing charges of two counts of aggravated assault and one count of aggravated burglary.
