SABAL Community, Dangriga Town, Mon. Aug. 3, 2015–Police are investigating the death of Anwar Garbutt, 27, of Belize City, who allegedly was beaten to death in the Sabal Community at about 7:00 this morning. He was found face-down on the ground after allegedly being beaten by a group of men.

Reports to Amandala are that Garbutt had gone to the area and exposed his private parts to a little girl who screamed and cried, which caused some men to go to see what was happening.

The men reportedly chased Garbutt and caught him. They then subjected him to a mob beating, after which they left the area, leaving him on the ground.

Police were called to the scene after the incident and they took Garbutt to the Southern Regional Hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival.

Garbutt’s body was taken to the morgue, where it will undergo a post-mortem exam to certify the cause of his death.

Police are investigating the matter, but so far, no one has been arrested.
