Dear Editor,

Today, December 4, 2018, Mr. Rosendo “Chendo” Urbina was laid to rest at his property in Palmar, Orange Walk Town. “Chendo” was an educator, the “patriarch” of “A&R Enterprises” and a highly respected member of Orange Walk Town, known to be very generous to the educational section of our society.

Even though “Chendo” was originally a staunch member of the PUP, when he thought his party had lost direction and was doing the country wrong, he “crossed the floor” and became a strong supporter of the UDP. We can only imagine the stigma that this entails, but through all this he stood strong and served his country well. Much respect to him, since being well off economically, he had no need to be in the turmoil of politics. He was a true patriot.

At his wake and “state funeral” there were attendants from both sides of the political divide, sharing smiles and shaking hands, making me proud of my “Orange Walk Pacificos.” We may not agree with each other but we do not hate one another.
