BELIZE CITY, Thurs. Jan. 16, 2020– Here are the results from games played so far in the Dickie Hernandez Old Road Football Classic, which will be holding Week 5 games this coming weekend. All games of the tournament, which kicked off in December, 2019, are being played at the Lucky Strike football field.

In Week 1 action, game 1 saw Lucky Strike taking down Corozalito by a 5-2 margin. Goal scorers for Lucky Strike included Keenen Gillett (40’), Daniel Lino (51’), Frederick Garbutt (65’ & 77’) and Kendale Chacon (85’); while Tyrel Estrada (54’) and Wayne Godoy (82’) scored for Corozalito. In game 2, Rookies (Lucky Strike) bombed Pasadita, 6-1, with goals from Augustine Smith, Jr. (5’), Travis Herrera (29’, 55’ & 85’), Jun Garnett (78’) and Elvis Godoy (72’); while the lone goal for Pasadita was by Samuel Torres (18’).

Week 2 games scheduled were Lucky Strike, Sr. vs Rookies, and Sandhill/Rockstone Pond vs Pasadita. In the opener, Keenen Gillett scored for Lucky Strike and Augustine Smith, Jr. scored for Rookies, to result in a 1-1 draw. And the nightcap was a (3-0) default win for Pasadita over Sandhill.

In the Week 3 opener last Sunday, January 5, Kings Rookies dropped Sandhill/Rockstone Pond, 2-1, with a goal each from Albert Garnett (25’) and Alex Jex (38’); while Sandhill/Rockstone Pond got their only goal at the 75th minute. In the nightcap, Corozalito got the 3-1 win over Pasadita. Shaking the net for Corozalito were Joseph Williams (36’) and Byron Reid (60’ & 75’); while Luis Vasquez (25’) scored for Pasadita.

Week 4 games were held this past Sunday, January 12. In game 1, Kings Rookies clipped Corozalito, 3-2, with a goal each from Augustine Smith (15’), Devon “Deebo” Rhaburn (63’) and Travis Heredia (92+’); while Corozalito goals were by Jason Gilharry (3’) and Shaquille Godoy (75’). Game 2 saw Lucky Strike prevailing in a slug fest, 6-3, over Pasadita. For Lucky Strike, Keenen Gillett had a hat trick (23’, 40’ & 75’) along with 1 apiece from Jermaine Wallace (34’) and Yogu Esquivel (65’), and an own goal by Pasadita (85’ OG); while Jose Caseres struck twice (15’ & 54’) and Samuel Torres (70’) got the other goal for Pasadita.

Upcoming Week 5 schedule:

Sunday, January 19, Lucky Strike
1:00 p.m. – Corozalito vs Lucky Strike
3:00 p.m. – Rookies vs Pasadita
