BELIZE CITY, Sun. Jan. 3, 2021– On Sunday, Dr. Alba Mendez Sosa, 53, passed away in Guatemala City after battling with multiple sclerosis. She was laid to rest in Guatemala City on Sunday, January 3, 2020. Dr. Mendez-Sosa worked for years within the Belizean medical community as a specialist in the fields of obstetrics and gynecology.
She is survived by her mother and three children. Dr. Sosa was the first OB/GYN and oncologist in Belize. She worked at the Belize Health Care Partners for years, and is well-known within the Belizean public and the country’s healthcare community.
Belizeans from across the country expressed condolences over social media when her passing was announced. Dr. Sosa touched countless Belizean lives and will be remembered for her attentive, caring manner during consultations and her desire to help her patients achieve quality health.
