InternationalRoyal Commonwealth Society: Goodbye to the Prince

LONDON, England, Fri. Apr. 9, 2021– The Royal Commonwealth Society (RCS) has extended its condolences to the Royal Family on the passing of His Royal Highness Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh.

Prince Phillip is said to have supported his wife, Queen Elizabeth II, in her role as the head of the Commonwealth. He pioneered the forum now known as the Commonwealth Study Conference that brings together talented men and women from the management of industries, trade unions, civil society and other professions.

News of Prince Philip’s death came on Friday, April 9, 2021. In February, he was treated for an infection and pre-existing heart condition. In March he was released following a heart procedure. Prince Philip will be laid to rest on Saturday, April 17, 2021, absent of the normal royal funeral traditions.

Together with his wife, Queen Elizabeth II, he witnessed the transformation of a long-reaching British empire into a Commonwealth of numerous independent member states. A release from the Royal Commonwealth Society says, “His establishment of The Duke of Edinburgh Award, which now operates in over 40 Commonwealth countries, and his founding of the Commonwealth Study Conferences and Emerging Leaders’ Dialogues, will leave a lasting and powerful legacy in the Commonwealth”
