BELIZE CITY, Thurs. Apr. 15, 2021– The Government of Belize updated the COVID-19 regulations late Wednesday night. SI No. 43 of 2021 came into effect at midnight, at the start of the day on April 15.
The curfew regulations remain in place, but a light relaxation of the measures has been introduced, with the curfew period on weekends (Friday and Saturday nights) being reduced to between the hours of midnight and 5:00 a.m. From Sunday to Thursday, the curfew hours will remain from 10:00 p.m. until 5:00 a.m. the following morning.
The curfew will now be in place for a full 30 calendar days.
The curfew period for minors will still be from 6:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m., but they will now be allowed to be with parents or guardians in the public during the non-curfew hours for adults.
And while a reopening of casinos and gaming establishments has been allowed, discos, bars, rum shops, and nightclubs must remain closed.
Casinos are only allowed to operate under strict regulations.
These regulations were signed into law on April 14 by the Minister of Health and Wellness, Hon. Michel Chebat, and came into force on April 15, 2021.
