GeneralOngoing gang rivalry claims life of Kirk Gordon

BELIZE CITY, Wed. May 19, 2021– Police are investigating the fatal shooting of 43-year-old Kirk Gordon of Kraal Road, Belize City, who, according to preliminary reports, was found on Peter Seco Street with multiple gunshot wounds around 6:30 p.m. on Friday, May 14.

When police arrived at the scene, Gordon was still clinging to life. He was rushed to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

An initial investigation by police revealed that Gordon was sitting near a skiff when an unknown man approached him and fired several shots. Police currently believe that the shooting was spurred by an ongoing rivalry between Gordon and someone who resides in the neighborhood.

Gordon also had a history of run-ins with law enforcement. Two years ago, Gordon was released from the Belize Central Prison after he had served a jail sentence for the killing of Arthur Ellis. This sentence was reduced to a period of fifteen years after his murder conviction was downgraded to a manslaughter charge.

Police continue to investigate.
