BELIZE CITY, Mon. July 25, 2022

  This Wednesday evening at 7:00 p.m. at the FFB Stadium in Belmopan, Belize’s national football champions Verdes FC will host CD Platense of El Salvador in the Preliminary Round of the 2022 Scotiabank Concacaf League.  (Honduras also has a Platense club, which is based in Puerto Cortes, Honduras.)   

   Some 12 lower ranked teams are participating in the Preliminary Round, with the 6 winners advancing to join 10 other clubs in the Round of 16 in August.

   The second leg against CD Platense will be next Wednesday, August 3 at the Estadio Cuscatlan in San Salvador, El Salvador.   

   Belizean hopes are always high going into these regional Concacaf club tournaments, but it has been a while since a Belizean club has advanced beyond the first/preliminary round of this tournament. Could this be the time for Verdes FC? Le’s go, Verdes! Le’s go, Belize!!
