LA CEIBA, Honduras, Tues. Aug. 2, 2022 A moderate earthquake that occurred off the coast of Honduras was felt in some parts of Belize on Tuesday morning.

According to the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC), the quake occurred some 89 kilometers (55.3 miles) northwest of La Ceiba, Departamento de Atlantida, Honduras at 9:17 a.m. local time.

The earthquake was listed as measuring 4.9 on the Richter Scale and did not cause any significant damage, although light vibrations were felt by persons located up to 122 km (75 miles) away from the epicenter.
