Police are still searching for Kyle Latchman

GeneralPolice are still searching for Kyle Latchman

by Charles Gladden

BELIZE CITY, Mon. Feb. 27, 2023

Ever since American national, Kyle Latchman, 23, of Dean Street Belize City was reported missing on Boxing Day of last year, an intensive search has been carried out by friends and family who are interested in his safe return, but it has been over two months and Latchman has not been found.

In a previous Amandala article, it was reported that gang activity might have had something to do with his disappearance, and that his activities might have played a role in the death of his father, Emert Flowers, 61, who was gunned down on Racecourse Street.

Initially, Latchman was reported missing along with two other men – Akeem Augustine, 23, of Flamboyant Street, and Christopher Sosa, 29, of Prince Street. Since those reports the remains of Augustine was discovered, in a mutilated state. Sosa has not been found.

Recent reports suggested that the bodies of both men were found in the Port area, but Communications Director of the Belize Police Department, ASP Fitzroy Yearwood denied those reports and expressed that they are still searching for the missing men.

“I cannot say that we did,” Yearwood said, “but we can tell you that we haven’t given up on the search for them. Our officers go out there and they still try to comb the area that we believe would be useful for the disposal of bodies.”
