BELIZE CITY, Fri. Mar. 10, 2023

The motionless body of Freddy Chicas, 22, a resident of the West Lake Community in the 8 Miles area, was discovered off the George Price Highway on Friday morning, March 10, by his brother and friends who had coordinated a search party.

According to reports, Chicas left home at around 8:00 a.m. on Sunday, March 5, and when he didn’t return home, his family began to get concerned, as he would normally inform his mother of his whereabouts.

It was not until Thursday that an official missing person report was issued, and the following day, Chicas’ body was found in a state of early decomposition among mangroves in a swampy area a few hundred yards away from the highway.

The Commissioner of Police, Chester Williams, confirmed to members of the local media that Chicas was shot once in the head. Reports have suggested that Chicas was executed on the day of his disappearance; however, a pathology test will be done to determine the time of death.
