BELIZE CITY, Thurs. July 6, 2023

While police are still trying to get to the root of what caused the shootout on Rivero Street which led to the death of 16-year-old Jahfeth Stamp of Jane Usher Boulevard, they have laid charges on 20-year-old Dwayne Tillett.

Footage from surveillance cameras in the area captured Stamp running away from something or someone, and then suddenly collapsing on the pavement. Reports suggest that Stamp had unsuccessfully attempted to ambush a group of men.

The footage showed that seconds after Stamp collapsed someone, believed to be Dwayne Tillett, approached his lifeless body, picked up his firearm, went into a yard on Fabers Road, and proceeded to fire shots at Wayne Matura. All this was also captured on camera.

From the camera’s angle, the gunman, believed to be Dwayne Tillett, is seen chasing Wayne Matura around a car and shooting him in his leg. The gunman was chased away by a third person, Aaron Matura, who fired shots at him while he was fleeing.

Angela Lopez, the mother of the deceased Jahfeth Stamp, spoke to the national media and said that her son, whom she doesn’t claim was a saint, was set up by a friend he associates with.

Authorities have charged Dwayne Tillett with the attempted murder of 43-year-old Wayne Matura of Fabers Road.
