This weekend will be special in Belize top level football, as it will be the first time we can recall that the semifinal playoffs are happening in both the top male and female national club competitions – the professional Premier League of Belize, and the National Amateur Women’s League.

NAWL Semifinals

The National Amateur Women’s League (NAWL) semifinals kicked off with Leg 1 last weekend, where both games were played on Saturday at the FFB Stadium.

In the 4:00 p.m. opener Sagitun Girlz FC clipped Napoles FC, 3-2, with a goal each from Olivia Dacosta (55’) and Kenya Perez (58’) along with an own goal from Napoles’ Belsie Montoya (OG-20’); while Napoles’ goals were by Carlene Tillett (60’) and Marjorie Sanchez (66’).

In the 6:00 p.m. nightcap, defending champions Jewel Fury FC made light work of Caribbean Tire Women FC, trouncing them, 10-1, with goals from Elva Nunez (4’, 15’, 22’ 45’ & 49’) and Khalydia Velasquez (12’, 36’ 46’ & 53’) along with an own goal by Caribbean Tire’s Shamirah Olivera (OG-39’). The only goal for Caribbean Tire Women FC came from Daysi Paiz (30’).

Thursday, December 7
7:30 p.m. – Napoles FC vs Sagitun Girlz FC – Isidoro Beaton Stadium
7:30 p.m. – Jewel Fury FC vs Caribbean Tire Women FC – FFB Stadium

PLB Semifinals

The Top-4 semifinal playoffs in the Premier League of Belize 2023-2024 Opening Season kicks off this Saturday night with both Leg 1 games taking place at the same time but in different stadiums.

PLB semifinal playoff Week 1 schedule:

Saturday, December 2
7:30 p.m. – Altitude FC vs Verdes FC – M.A. Stadium in Independence
7:30 p.m. – Progresso FC vs Port Layola FC – People’s Stadium
