BELIZE CITY, Mon. Jan. 29, 2024

On Wednesday, January 23, 2024, Rudolph McKoy, Sr. of #29 Dean Street in Belize City, passed away at his home. Rudy, as many knew him, was born in 1934. For many years he was the Supply Officer for the Forestry Department. After retiring from government, he started his business at Dean Street – Rudy’s Mini Mart.

Apart from being a successful entrepreneur, he was active in sports as a fan and as a football player. During the 1970s he would never miss a game on Sundays at the MCC. His favorite team was the dominant Landivar team of the late 1960s to early 1970s. He was also a fan of the Charger football team of the mid-1970s, on which his son, Rudolph “Bolo” McKoy played. Not only was he a fan, he also played for several teams in his youth, such as the Landivar team from the 1950s to the 1960s.

His favorite hang-out spot was the CBA Club where he also played pool and table tennis. He will be missed by many.

His funeral will be on Friday, February 2, at 1:00 p.m. at Wesley Church on Albert Street, and interment will be at Lord Ridge Cemetery. R.I.P. brother Rudolph “Rudy” McKoy!
