Coastal Highway drains still being ignored

LettersCoastal Highway drains still being ignored

Tuesday, July 16, 2024

The Editor, Amandala

Dear Editor,

Despite the rains and flooding that have occurred, the MIDH has still not cleared much of the drains on the Coastal Highway.

This is very evident from Mile 1 right up to Mile 7, and around Mile 13 to 17. Other examples or evidence of the drains being ignored is the bridge at Mile 2 that has its approaches and rails overgrown.

Without properly maintained drains, the road will flood. Maybe some of the flooding is due to climate change and nearby land clearing and erosion, but it is hard to blame it on these things if the drains are not properly looked after.

See some pictures attached as examples.

Best regards,
Glenda Parham
