Progresso FC are leading the Premier League of Belize (PLB) 2024-2025 Opening Season standings with 9 points after their 3rd win, 2-1, over Wagiya SC at the Carl Ramos Stadium on Sunday afternoon, August 18.

Harlan Casanova (58’) and Sebastian Valencia (70’) struck home the goals for Progresso to lead 2-0, until Nigel Elijio (74’) responded with the sole tally for Wagiya SC.

At the Ambergris Stadium on Saturday night, Krisean Lopez’s hat trick (47’, 48’ and 66’) punctuated Verdes’ 3-0 domination of the San Pedro Pirates for their second win.

Fresh back from their 1-5 loss to CD Aguila in El Salvador, Port Layola FC also enjoyed their first PLB win, 2-0, over the Belmopan Bandits at the Marion Jones Sports Complex on Sunday, with goals by Gilroy “Leng” Thurton (18’) and Latrell Middleton (82’).

The tournament continues this weekend with 3 more matches on August 24-25.
