The Saint Catherine Academy Sea Hawks junior varsity volleyball girls won the Catholic Secondary Schools Sports Association (CSSSAC) volleyball championship hosted by Bishop Martin High School on the San Lorenzo Road in Orange Walk Town on Saturday, January 11.

The Sea Hawks dominated all opponents, not losing a single set, and easily took the championship final, 2-0, over the Sacred Heart College Hawks of San Ignacio. The Bishop Martin High School Cardinals won the consolation match for 3rd place, 2-0, over the Mount Carmel High School Crusaders of Benque Viejo.

Eight teams contested the championship, and the Sea Hawks advanced to the finals by a 2-0 win over the hosts in the semifinals, while the SHC Hawks qualified to the finals by a 2-0 win over the Crusaders in the other semifinal.

The 8 teams were divided into 2 groups of 4 teams who played a single round robin of 6 games. In Group A, in Game 1, the Sea Hawks won, 2-0, over the Pallotti Gators. In Game 2, the SHC Hawks, 2-0, over Corozal Community College. In Game 3, the Gators won, 2-1, over the CCC girls. In Game 4, the Sea Hawks won, 2-0, over the SHC Hawks; and in Game 5, the Hawks crushed the Gators, 2-0. In Game 6, the Sea Hawks completed their clean sweep, 2-0, over CCC.

In Group B, the Crusaders advanced to semifinals as group leaders with 2 wins. In Game 1, the Muffles College Bobcats mauled the Crusaders, 2-0. In Game 2, the Our Lady of Guadalupe High School girls from Belmopan won, 2-0, over the Cardinals. In Game 3, the Belmopan girls tamed the Bobcats, 2-0; and in Game 4, the Crusaders prevailed, 2-1, over the Cardinals. In Game 5, the hosts enjoyed their 2nd win, 2-0, over the Bobcats; while in Game 6, the Crusaders enjoyed their 2nd win, 2-1, over the Belmopan girls.

The CSSSAC executive committee presented a championship trophy to the SCA Sea Hawks and individual medals to the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners.
