Nazarene High School girls – CSSSA 2025 Female Softball Champions

The defending national high school softball champions – the Nazarene High School girls and Gwen Lizarraga High School boys will represent the Central Zone at the National Secondary Schools Sports Association (NSSSA) softball championships, to be hosted by Toledo Community College at the Victor Sanchez Union Stadium in Punta Gorda Town on Friday and Saturday, March 21-22.
The Nazarene girls and the Gwen Li boys won the Central Secondary Schools Sports Association (CSSSA) softball championships at the Rogers Stadium in Belize City on Saturday morning, March 15.
FEMALES
Best pitcher Jaysha Weir struck out 8 batters as she led the Nazarene girls to a 19-12 win over the Edward P. Yorke girls by mercy rule in the 4th inning. The E.P. Yorke girls collected 2 hits off Weir, who walked 9 batters. The Nazarene diamond made 7 errors, which allowed Malesha Frazer to cross the plate 3 times, while Kayla Morris, Zyra Smith, and Hannah Perriot each scored twice. Tijae Robateau, Kennise Gabourel and Junita Benjamin each scored a run.

The Nazarene girls collected 3 hits off Hannah Perriot who struck out 5 batters and walked 8. The E.P. Yorke diamond made 13 errors, allowing MVP Helen Cassasola to round the bases 4 times, while Weir and Jamiah Rhaburn each crossed the plate thrice. Juliana Baldwin, Abriana Teck and Chayann Pollard each scored 2 runs, and Sharday Howard and Kaci Barrow each scored once.
MALES
Best pitcher Raymond Gentle, Jr. struck out 7 batters as he led the Gwen Liz boys to a 13-3 win over the Wesley College boys by mercy rule in 3 innings. Gentle gave up no hits, but walked 4 batters, and the Gwen Liz diamond made 5 errors, allowing Wesley’s Kirkland Davis, Daewyn Castillo and Devaun Myvett to score a run apiece.

Gwen Lizarraga High School boys – CSSSA 2025 Male Softball Champions
Wesley’s pitcher Tyrell Young struck out one batter and walked 4, but the diamond made 12 errors, allowing Milton Flores and Augustine Pitterson to each cross the plate thrice. MVP Shane Vernon scored twice, and Jauvann Morgan, Ryan Yorke, Ajere August, Kurt Coleman and Devin McCaulay scored a run each.

CSSSA president Melanie Williams presented team trophies and individual medals to the champions and sub-champions in the closing ceremonies. Nazarene’s Jaysha Weir and Gwen Liz’s Raymond Gentle received Best Pitcher awards, while Nazarene catcher Helen Cassasola and Gwen Liz catcher Shane Vernon won the Most Valuable Player awards.
