ORANGE WALK TOWN, Mon. June 2, 2025

A man is now dead after he and his partner were hit by a speeding vehicle on Saturday night, May 31, in Orange Walk Town.

Before the unfortunate incident occurred, 43-year-old Steven Bell, also known as “Ratti,” was in front of his home sitting on a Lifan motorcycle on San Andres Street after 9:00 p.m. with his girlfriend, Ada Williams. The couple had just finished speaking to two other people when an SUV came by at high speed and knocked them onto the pavement.

Urine samples were gathered from the SUV’s driver, identified as Heidi Chan of Orange Walk Town, and she was served with a notice of intended prosecution (NIP).

The severity of the collision caused Bell to die at the scene, and his partner, who suffered severe bodily injuries, was taken to the Northern Regional Hospital for treatment, where she remains hospitalized.

Charges are yet to be levied on Chan.
