The Ahmadiyyah Basketball League (ABL) entered its 9th season on Sunday, March 3, over the weekend, with all of the introductory games taking place at the SJC Gym.

The ABL, since its inaugural season in 2014, has become one of the country’s most anticipated annual events for many basketball players and enthusiasts.

The three-month long season will see 50 teams from different parts of the Jewel battling against one another to be called champions in this year’s tournament. This year’s tournament features six categories: Under-12, Under-15, Under-18, Under-22, and Open, and it will include teams from Mexico and a few Female teams from Belize.

The opening for the 9th season witnessed 16 teams participating, with two games happening simultaneously. Below are the game results by category:

U-12: Conquering Lions defeated Brotherhood Ballaz, 32–24.

U-15: Brotherhood Ballaz defeated the Falcons, 32–28; and Conquering Lions defeated City Boys, Jr., 67-28.

U-18: 24/8 defeated Ghana Stars, 37-34; OTM Ballerz defeated Vulchazz‘, 28-20; and Falcons defeated Roger’s Stadium 40-24.

U-22: Portofino FS defeated the Tigersharks, 43-30; and Corozal Spartans defeated FSN Vision 40-37.

U-22: Benguche defeated Hillside Ballers, 38-32; Courtside Hyenas defeated City Boys, 22-21; Dream Team defeated Dream Chasers, 60-51; ABS Hardrock defeated Falcons, 32-21; and City Reapers defeated Jane Usher, 45-21.

Females U-18: Sparks defeated the Kings, 26-20.
