The Belmopan Football first division tournament continued over the weekend with its second week of exciting football action at the Isidoro Beaton Stadium.

On Friday, Banana Bank got 2 unanswered second half goals, to post the 3 – 2 victory over Inter Milan. Milan had a 2-goal advantage from a pair of goals by Eder Diaz in the 25th and 38th minute of play. Osmin Magana cut the lead in half, with Banana Bank’s first goal in the 45th minute. In the second half, Jesus Batres scored the equalizer for Banana Bank in the 65th minute. Shortly after, in the 70th minute, Osmin Magana scored his second goal of the game, which proved to be the ultimate game winner.

In the second game, Angel Pastrana scored early in the 4th minute, to give Argentina a 1 – 0 lead going into the halftime break. Ten minutes after Vida Medrano scored the second half equalizer for Armenia in the 60th minute, Pastrana scored his second of the game, as Argentina regained the 1 goal advantage. In the waning minutes of the game, Anthony Chiac scored another equalizer for Armenia in the 84th minute, to level the score at 2 goals apiece. Just as the game was about to end in a draw, Angel Pastrana struck once again in the 89th minute, to complete the hat trick and seal the 3 – 2 victory for Argentina.

In Saturday’s action, Barrio Fino defeated Capital United by the score of 2 – 0, from goals by Samuel Novelo in the 40th minute and Andre Logan in the 75th minute.

In game 2, Camalote Warriors and Cotton Tree played to a 1 – 1 stalemate. Bertan Bermudez scored the goal for Camalote, while Mariano Alvarez scored the goal for Cotton Tree.

On Sunday, Roaring Creek was a no-show, and, as a result, Camalote Warriors received the easy 3 – 0 default victory and 3 points. The 3 goals were credited to Warriors’ captain, Irberto Lopez.

The decision from the BFA Executive, regarding Roaring Creek’s failure to show up for their scheduled match, is still pending.

In the only game that did materialize, Norman Ellington scored in the 9th, 18th and 80th minute, to lift AC Milan to the 3 -1 victory over Aguilas. Marcos Martinez scored the only goal for Aguilas in the 68th minute of play.

The tournament will continue with limited action this weekend, as a result of the activities for the annual Agriculture and Trade Show, and semipro football this Saturday night at the Isidoro Beaton Stadium in Belmopan. Kindly see schedule for weekend match-ups.
