The Belize District Basketball Association (BDBA) Firms Tournament 2014 continued over the weekend with 2 games each on Friday and Saturday nights, July 25-26, at Bird’s Isle.
In the opener on Friday night, Belize Bank/Airport Authority won 66-64, over Central Health Region/A-Class Cleaning. Top scorers for BB/AA were Christopher McGann 20 pts, Terrique Gabb 17 pts, Vince Lamb 12 pts and Charles Armstrong 10 pts; while Alejandro Baptist of CHR/AC led all scorers with 27 pts in a losing effort. In the nightcap, Courts (Unicomer) got the 54-51 win over Belize Telemedia. Scoring leaders for Courts (Unicomer) were Fidel Blair 19 pts, Jamal Pollard 16 pts and Jorrett Jones 12 pts; while for Telemedia, Lupita Acosta had 19 pts and Edward Thompson 11 pts.
In game 1 on Saturday night, it was Complex “Admirals”, 58-50, over Belize Water Services. Hot hands for Complex were Wilfred Richards with 20 pts, Rhetton Belisle 14 pts, and Raphael O’Brien 11 pts; while the lone scorer in double figures for BWS was Luis Barcelona with 22 pts. And in game 2, Atlantic Bank/National Fire Service came away with the 66-54 win over Heritage Bank/Belize Kee O Lal Tours. AB/NFC was led by Ty Bradley 29 pts and Ian Lennan 26pts; while HB/BKT was led by Devon Defour 15 pts, and Steven Bonnell and Felix Martinez with 11 pts each.
The current standings show: in Division I – Atlantic Bank/National Fire Service (2-0); Belize Telemedia Ltd. (1-1); Courts (Unicomer) (1-1); and Heritage Bank/Belize Kee O Lal Tours (0-2); and in Division II – Belize Bank Ltd./Airport Authority (2-0); Belize Water Services Ltd. (1-1); Complex “Admirals” (1-1); and Central Health Region/A-Class Cleaning (0-2).
